Colwich Playgroup - “Giving your child a good start” |
Colwich Playgroup |
Policies & Governance |
The setting is run as a community playgroup open to all families. We are registered charity (incorporated under a charitable constitution) and are managed by a Parents Commitee. All parents and guardians are welcome to join the committee which helps to manage the setting and steer its ethical direction. Parents (and other interested individuals such as aunts, uncles, godparents and grandparents) can get involved in a variety of roles, including management, finance, marketing, fundraising activities, helping out in the setting, trips and outings, etc. All volunteer roles are subject to vetting and barring checks as required for roles working with vulnerable children. Our Annual General Meeting is held once per year, and all parents are invited to attend. The Chair of the Committee, Treasurer and Playgroup Manager give their reports as to the highlights and progress the year and the focus and challenges faced in the year ahead. Staff regularly undertake both mandatory and professional development training, ensuring they are well informed to support childrens’ development and aware of current legislation and best practice. Staff also undertake specific additional needs training to help them identify and support children in areas such as speech or delayed development, detecting and working with autism, etc. The setting has a handbook detailing our current operational policies, which are updated annually to reflect Ofsted and our Early Years guidance.
